About Waterford Creatives Network

Waterford Creatives Network is dedicated to fostering a vibrant community of artists and creatives in Waterford. Our platform will feature insightful articles on professional practice, links to upcoming funding opportunities, and announcements for networking events including our own monthly travelling salon. â€‹As members of the creative community ourselves, we aim to connect, inspire, and support the creative community in Waterford City and County. Read on for more detail.

This network is just starting and we are looking for new members of all creative disciplines from artists and writers to performers and film makers; those actively learning their discipline, emerging in their discipline or a professional. The commonalities between members should be the desire for creative community connection and support, the willingness to consider collaborations on diverse projects in the community at large and the ability to do so. This is a network where we both appreciate those with advanced experience and nurture those learning, and where we treat each other with kindness and respect. We have a code of conduct for this group, you can read it here

Many artists in the Waterford community have expressed a need for a group that facilitates networking and support within the creative sector. This group would offer the following:

  • A monthly travelling salon held in galleries or community centres in various locations around Waterford City and County, where creatives can:

    • share contact details for collaborative projects

    • share their current work and get feedback, peer support and advice

    • get referrals/contacts for things they can’t do themselves

    • listen to speakers on topics ranging from professional practice subjects to art practice subjects, from curating to collaborating

    • discuss topical subjects concerning the creative sector

    • share opportunities and creative sector news

  • Opportunities to practice their creative form in the community as part of the Waterford Creatives group

As well as encouraging collaboration between members of the group for external projects, the group would also propose and organise specific collaborations between group members and local communities.
